Politics and History of Real Estate Markets
The history of the German real estate market is closely linked to my dissertation project on valuation. The focus of my work has been on urban real estate markets since the mid-19th century. However, the role of real estate markets has accompanied me throughout my academic life since my bachelor’s degree. In my studies of political science, the main focus was on questions of the financialization of the housing market in the 21st century, the politics of modern coexistence and the economic significance of land ownership.
Economic History
My dissertation is largely positioned in economic history. Of course, the current focus is on the real estate market and its players, especially banks, insurance companies, housing companies and investors. But I am also interested in other aspects of economic history, such as corporate history or how markets bring together different groups of actors.
History of Knowledge
In addition to economic history, my dissertation project is primarily positioned in the history of knowledge. This is due to the fact that I am particularly interested in the production and circulation of generalized knowledge of property valuation on the real estate market.
Practice Theory
My dissertation project has led me to work intensively with appraoches from practice theory. As part of my research project, I am therefore currently developing an analytical framework based on the work of Theodore Schatzki, Andreas Reckwitz and Davide Nicolini, among others.

Banking and Insurance History
I already studied the role of banks in financial markets during my studies. With my doctorate, the focus shifted primarily to the real estate market.
Economic and Financial Policy
Questions of economic and financial policy accompanied me both in my social and economic science studies and in my current research project.
Environmental History and Policy
Environmental history and politics has been of interest since the beginning of my Master’s degree in political science, which I have continued to pursue alongside my current research project – most recently in the form of a Bachelor’s seminar (social sciences) on the development of Greenpeace.
